Currently, in our market, there are many brands of cosmetics and skincare products. Some consumers may buy creams or cosmetics based on advertisements or buy them based on presenters hired by cosmetic brands for marketing benefits. This causes many consumers to neglect and not pay attention to reading labels before deciding to buy. As a result, many people fall victim to fake cosmetic brands. Today, we will teach you how to read labels easily.
The text on the product label must be complete as shown in the picture; otherwise, it is considered non-compliant and cannot proceed. The most important part is the notification number.
Notification Number
The notification number is the FDA-approved number for the production and sale of the product. It consists of 10 digits in total (XX-X-XXXXXXX).
Here’s what each digit represents:
- The first 2 digits represent the province where the details were requested.
- The 3rd digit indicates whether the product is manufactured (1) or imported (2).
- The 4th and 5th digits represent the year the details were requested.
- The 6th to 10th digits are the order of the notification for that year.
If you're unsure about the notification number, you can verify it at www.fda.moph.go.th. In addition to the notification number, the website will show information such as the operator's name, trade name, product name, and status. You can check whether the information matches the product label you purchased.
After reading this, don't forget to double-check the cosmetic labels at home. If everything is complete and can be verified, you can use the product with confidence.
